Welcome This site is a source of all official and rumored upcoming release dates for high definition video release on the Blu-ray and HD DVD disc formats. I usually update the release schedules daily and I will slowly be improving the web design and may well branch out into other emerging hidef video and audio media. There will also be a definite emphasis on international releases not yet available in the USA, all from an English speaking perspective. And if you were wondering, I will also keep updating the HD DVD release lists as long as titles are still being released. I hope this is all of benefit, so send me an email of encouragement if it is, and make sure to let me know of any corrections, omissions, new information or tips on how I can make these lists, schedules and web pages better. Navigate the lists using the links on the left. List Wrangler Carl Braga
Notable Updates May 16, 2008 "Patriot Games" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Complete First Season" are due for a late July USA release, with no sign yet of the other Jack Ryan releases (or the box set). Internationaly the Studio Canal versions of "Escape from New York", "The Fog", "Stargate", "Terminator 2" and Total Recall" have been added to the UK schedule. These seem to be appearing before the French releases in the news last week, and will most likely have better transfers than the existing USA Lionsgate releases. The documentary classic "Son of Rambow" has also been slated for a late July release in the UK, along with "Funny Games", two movies I havent yet seen but have been highly recommended to me. May 15, 2008 "Postal (2007)" is now on the USA schedule. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" was removed from the UK release schedule last December, but now it has popped back on the October 2008 schedule. "Dr Seuss' Horton Hears A Who!" appears for the first time on any release schedule for September in Australia. May 14, 2008 "Exorcism of Emily Rose" is scheduled for a July release date in the USA, followed by "Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and "Smallville - The Complete Seventh Season" in an estimated August timeframe. Internationally we have further confirmation for a September release for "Finding Nemo". Globally, September was always the release date for this title, but in my opinion it was an error on Bill Hunt's behalf when he recently implied it was postponed until next year. May 12, 2008 "Cool Hand Luke" is scheduled for a September release date in the USA. "The Rolling Stones-The Biggest Bang" has been added to the May French releases (thanks Dan S!), with "Into the Wild", "Vampire Cop Ricky" and "Frontier(s)" a couple of months later. See the appropriate lists for the exact dates. May 10, 2008 Studio Canal have revealed their European September and October release schedule. Exclusive titles are "Brotherhood of the Wolf", "The Fog", La Grand Vadrouille", "The Pianist", "The Deer Hunter", "La Haine", "Cliffhanger", "Escape form New York", "Hot Fuzz" and "Highlander (1986)". Those titles which have already been released in the USA will be most likely have a superior image quality to the USA Lionsgate counterparts (based on their existing HD DVD versions) are: "Terminator 2", "Total Recall", "Basic Instinct", "Babel", "Evil Dead II" and "Stargate". "Lonesome Dove" miniseries added to USA schedule in August. May 9, 2008 "The Sixth Sense", "Mad Detective" and "Legends of the Fall" on the UK schedule, "Gone Baby Gone", "Bloodrayne" and "Finding Nemo" on the German schedule - all up for pre-order as well! Also note that the Dirty Harry films which are only available in the USA collection are available individually in the UK. See the International Releases for exact dates. "Prison Break-Season 3" and "The Tiger Blade" are now on the USA schedule in July-August. May 8, 2008 The biggest news of the year (for me), is that Criterion have finally announced they will be going hidef with the first of their Blu-ray releases being released in October. "Om Shanti Om" has been postponed, plus lots of other updates to the schedules. May 4, 2008 Some breaking news on some new Sony USA releases for July - "21 (2008)", " I Know What You Did Last Summer", "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer", "Urban Legend (1998)" May 3, 2008 Lots of updates over the last few days. Internationally "Dodgeball", "To Live and Die in LA", "CJ7" and "Infernal Affairs III" are now shipping. In the USA "Firefly" has appeared as a pre-order at Amazon without a date, meaning an official announcement is due very soon. "Doomsday (2008)" and "Drillbit Taylor", "College Road Trip (2008)", "Step Up 2 the Streets" now have release dates in July. "The Secret", "Justice League (2001)", "Proposition, The (2005)", "Afro Samurai (Director's Cut)", "Pale Rider (1985)" now have release dates in August. "Risky Business" and "Grey's Anatomy" in September and "Lost" in December. April 30, 2008 Thanks Robert K. for news on some German releases due later this year which have not been announced for a USA release. These include "The Fog", "Fight Club", "The Deer Hunter", "Leon", "Cliffhanger", "The Constant Gardener" and "Dances with Wolves". Some great titles there, which I've listed in the unscheduled and rumored section of the International Blu-ray releases. If anyone else has legitimate news or infomation about releases not listed on this site, email it through! April 29, 2008 Major news today is that Parmount have finally announced a batch of titles! April 26, 2008 "Iron man (2008)" has appeared on the International release schedule for an October release in Germany along with "Constantine", which has been pulled from its June release in Japan. "Infernal Affairs III " - the last and the least of this great trilogy has been added to the Hong Kong schedule under International releases. States-side, The fourth seasons of both Lost and Grey's Anatomy have been added to the North American schedule later in 2008 along with the unofficial addition of Dark City for late July, and The Proposition (2005) for August. April 23, 2008 The classics "How the West Was Won (1962)" and "Cool Hand Luke" have surfaced on the UK schedule along with "Sex and The Death 101" and "Reichel, Keali'i-Kukahi: Live in Concert". The Amazon USA 'Buy-one-get-one-free' Blu-ray sale is over, please bring on the next one with a wider range of titles... Oh and after a months delay, 'Tiesto' ships in Europe. April 19, 2008 Whilst not officially confirmed, the USA release date for "Ghostbusters" has been triangulated from the USA "Ghostbusters" game release tie-in date and the leaked European "Ghostbusters" release date. "Pesepolis (2007)" added to schedule along with the the 'classic' "Starship Troopers" which was due last year but was mysteriously postponed, despite being released internationally. Check the North American Blu-ray release list for exact dates. Also worth noting that "Cloverfield" has popped back onto the Intenational schedule in UK. April 18, 2008 The big news is that Universal will finally be releasing on Blu-ray, starting with "Doomsday" and their Mummy films in July, "Heroes" Season 1 and 2 in August, followed by another 40 titles in the latter half of 2008. "Constantine" and "Stargate-Continuum" have also been added to the USA schedule. April 16, 2008 "10,000 B.C." and "Natural Born Killers" have been added to the USA schedule, unfortunately the latter release is only the theatrical cut. "Vantage Point" and "There Will be Blood" UK releases have been added to the International upcoming releases. Hmmm, with so many international release for "There Will be Blood" confirmed for early July, how could the USA release not also be due then? And it will be no surprise that "Zodiac: Director's Cut" UK release is confirmed for September 1, although other European releases of that title may be released months earlier. March 18, 2008 And still more international Blu-ray releases not yet anounced in the USA including "The Boys from Brazil", Bugsy Malone", "Escape to Athena", " Black Narcissus", Great Expectations" and "Strictly Ballroom". The highlights here for me are the Powell and Pressburger - "Black Narcissus" and Fox's "Strictly Ballroom". Im hoping that all of the last French SD Extras and included with 'Narcissus' and that all of the Red Curtain Trilogy extras are with 'Ballroom' March 15, 2008 A quick weekend update with some more international Blu-ray titles of note including "The Nightmare before Christmas", "Be Kind Rewind","Perfect Creature", "The Neverending Story", "Jumper", "The Mist (2007)" and Pixar's "Wall*E".
